Interview, Pitch and Publish

Learn the art of interviewing over a live Q&A and turn your material into a publish-worthy journalism story.

  • The goal of these immersive workshops is learning through doing. Our instructor shares the skills and insights from 28 years of journalism and editing experience, and you’ll put them into practice. You’ll start by conducting an interview. Then, using your own interview material, you’ll practise how to nail the best angle for a bold, colourful narrative that is both informative and compelling to your readers.

    With this course you’ll learn to:

    • Develop interviewing skills

    • Practise them during a Live Q&A

    • Identify an angle and pitch a story

    • Structure, write and texture your piece with professional editing assistance

    The full course includes one-on-one editing and layout: you’ll go home with a publish-worthy story for your portfolio.

    Each session includes a practical part where participants present, discuss and get feedback on the story they are developing.

  • This course is for aspiring journalists looking to get published, professionals aiming to boost existing competencies in their own fields (press/marketing work, online news, blogging, art criticism, creative fiction, etc.), or anyone looking to try their hand at writing magazine-style features.

  • Compact: intensive workshops spread over less than a week.

    Small, International groups: Our participants come from all over. To ensure newsroom quality, and attention to individual’s progress, groups are limited to 8 people.

    Hands-on!: All participants will be asked to pick an angle and develop their own story over the length of the course. Regular personal feedback will be given each step of the way.

    Individual assessment (full course): In addition to regular feedback, each participant will have a one-to-one editing session and receive a final assessment of their work and the resulting story.
