Interview, Pitch & Publish!

Our journalism course this Dec: One training two packages!

This practical training comes in two packages (Compact and Full Package), both focused on two essential professional skills: interviewing and pitching. Over three or four sessions, you'll cover the techniques to prepare for and conduct face-to-face Q&A interviews, and practise selling your material to editors. The full package follows through with one-on-one editing feedback and a final piece.

Your instructor: Nadja Vancauwenberghe shares the skills and insights from 28 years of journalism and editing experience.

‍Highlight: ‍‍ ‍Both courses include BJA's famous Live Q&A: a rare chance to meet, interview and photograph a prominent Berliner face to face. Everything you pitch and write in this course grows out of that session.

THE COURSES‍: ‍

COMPACT [course 1] Interview & Pitch: practise conducting a strong journalism interview, and pitch it like a pro!

3 workshops · 12 hours · €420 // Includes Live Q&A

Over these three sessions, you'll prepare for and conduct a face-to-face Q&A with a prominent Berliner. We debrief the interview as a group, and each participant shapes their own angle. From there we move to pitching: how to frame the story and sell it to an editor. You leave with the material for a publish-worthy feature, and the pitch to go with it.

👉 Leave with a pitch, ready for an editor's inbox!

FULL PACKAGE [course 2] Interview, Pitch & Publish: Practise interviewing, pitching, and finalise a piece under your byline!

4 + 1 one-on one session · 18hours · €650 // Includes Live Q&A & online publication

Everything in the Compact course, plus one-on-one editing feedback and a final professional edit. In these four sessions, you'll take part in a real-world Q&A with a prominent Berliner. We'll prep, conduct, and debrief the interview together, then move on to pitching and writing techniques. From pitch to draft, your story develops into a full-blown journalism feature, in either Q&A or profile format. Your final story gets published in our blog.

👉 Leave with a professionally edited piece for your portfolio.
